Dynamic Site Mapping™

Dynamic Site Mapping™ (DSM) is a patent pending method for obtaining web page access information (page view event tracking), compiling web site statistics pages that provide page visitation data and reports for client marketing purposes, creates static HTML files for each mapped page, facilitates the spidering of each page mapped (both static and dynamic URLs), and provides a powerful search engine for your site that has indexed your popular dynamic and static content! You have a private deep-crawled searchable index for your site.

Questions and Answers

Q: What is the overhead to my server to include the dynamicsitemapping.com/spacer.gif file?

A: The spacer.gif file is 42 bytes in size, and is loaded from our server sitting in an optimised tier-3 center. Of course the greatest delay will be the time to load the image from our server to your visitor machine, but the load time should be minimal.

Q: Can I include your image on our https pages?

A: We have a valid certificate for our image that allows it to be loaded with a https URL. However, you should be sure that you would want a search engine linking to a https page directly.

Q: Is there an alternative to loading your image from your servers?

A: No. We offered this option at one time but the inconvenience and overhead exceeded any benefit.

Q: What does it take to install the product?

A: Normally we would identify specific steps during our setup process and send you step-by-step instructions. These instructions will include the following: inclusion of program code into your static HTML and dynamic HTML environment (asp, php, perl, jsp scripts, generally under 6 lines) and completion of necessary profile information.

Q: Where do we install your provided DSM report files?

A: Effective January 1, 2007, Version 2 of DSM does not require you to upload, link, or otherwise have your site connected to our pages. The changes made by the search engines to spider pages more effectively has been included into DSM, so you do not need to link or submit the DSM pages to the search engines. We maintain those pages in external files and you do not have to connect to them in any way.

Q: Will the DSM pages themselves be indexed in the search engines?

A: No. We have included a specific "NOINDEX, FOLLOW" Robots command that will result in the search engines skipping the indexing of these result pages. However, since these pages do point to popular pages within your site, having the search engine spider follow the links is what allows the dynamic content to be spidered. Your pages are the ones getting indexed, not our DSM pages.

Q: How many page loads can be tracked?

A: All appropriate page loads for the subscription period. Note that this may be impacted by the technology implemented at your site.

Q: Can DSM allow me to track multiple domain names at the same time?

A: No. Tracking of events is unique to the domain name, thus each domain name must be separate.

Q: Our dynamic site URL's contain session-specific information. Can we have that removed before the DSM pages are compiled?

A: Yes. We have a standard feature that allows any parameter to be removed based upon keyword (not value). As such, xyz.com/my.asp?user=bruce&page=253 and xyz.com/my.asp?page=253&user=cindy can both become xyz.com/my.asp?page=253. Of course, visitors going directly to my.asp without the user= parameter will potentially cause an error and my.asp will need to detect this event and take corrective action.

Q: What happens if the parameters are not in the same sequence?

A: We produce resequenced parameter fields that are in an alphabetical order. All parameters not intentionally excluded are retained.

Q: What happens if the page is invoked by a FORM (or javascript equivalent) where the URL does not contain the parameter values?

A: Part of our patented solution is the tracking of variables that are not included in the referrer field as is common with POST (Forms). We will be able to track and process form variables.

Q: If my company were to discontinue the use of your services, can we continue to utilise the techniques on our server using our own reporting tools?

A: No. You may only use our materials under a current Subscription Agreement with all fees paid, and for up to 30 days following expiration of service. The Agreement includes very specific clauses that all techniques are protected by non-disclosure, confidentiality, specific use restrictions, copyright, trademark, and patent protection and do not allow any other use. Should you use such protected techniques and materials then you are in violation of local and federal laws and appropriate action will be taken. Thus you must renew the subscription without lapse to continue to utilise the DSM product.
